Collecting plants for mono printing …

Hedgerow

Hedgerow Finds

I’ve been known to wander around the fields for hours staring at the hedgerow.  No, I’m not mad, I’m just looking for plants to take home and use in mono-printing.  I do a lot of mono-printing.  I like the concept of leaving impressions on surfaces.  There’s an artists called Rachel Whiteread and I studied her as part of my Art History course when I was at college.  I found her work fascinating and you only have to look at ‘House’ to see the concept of presence and remembrance.    Fossils are another favourite of mine and again it’s the breakdown of layers created through compression that excites me.  So, I shall use the plants that I’ve collected in the hedgerow to produce my own remembrance of presence; now that the autumn is catching our heels!
