I vaguely remember saying that hopefully a normal daily posting service would resume on Sunday last week. Yet here we are another 7 days later. Unfortunately I’ve been ill and spent a few days in bed so I’m slightly behind with #DrawingAugust. Day 15 is missing but it’s half done and will be posted as soon as it’s finished.
So here’s quite a few sketches:
Day 11 – (Before illness)
Although looking at it I’m sure being ill had an impact on this one – not one of my favourites but I learnt a lot!
Day 12 (Although not done until day 14)
A tudor house in Stratford Upon Avon – this property is approx 400 years old
Day 13 (Again done on day 14)
I took Mr P out for a walk and saw these beautiful flowers in one of the village gardens. I drew this on the spot but painted at home.
Our village still has one of these red telephone boxes which are disappearing all over the UK. It’s a real trip of nostalgia for me and I hope that the box is still here for many years to come (and it still works)
I sat on the grassy bank sketching this as Mr P lay next to me, enjoying some respite on the walk.
Day 16 (I’ve skipped a day)
The painting sketch for Day 15 is half done so I’ll post it when its finished. I spent a beautiful day at Tyntesfield House yesterday. A beautiful piece of architecture in every way and a wonderful museum of craftsmanship in woodwork, stonework, plasterwork, glasswork, mosaic, and in the whole architecture of the house and chapel. It was a music day at Tyntesfield yesterday, so I saw on the lawn drawing & painting whilst listening to some great music. Definitely somewhere to return for more sketching.
Day 17 (today)
I’ve spent the day replanting the herb garden so after a quick trip to the nursery I’ve replanted rosemary, lavender, parsley, bay, thyme, oregano and mint.
The garden smells lovely and it just seems the right thing to paint today. I wish you could smell this lavender, it’s lovely!
