Small (feather size 6 inches)
In between printing layers on my latest linoprint, I’ve been using my field finds to produce some monoprints. I like the way this feather has turned out with the marks along the rachis. The inks that I use are intaglio printmaking oil based inks and they have a habit of making the barb separate into little discrete units and then finally the whispy afterfeather creates a lovely softness to the print.
It’s amazing how a collection of these together with a fantastic skeletal structure enables birds to fly – I’m always in awe of this.
And the title – I’m practicing my french at every opportunity.
