Colour Mixing

IMG_0346It’s amazing what you can do with three tubes of paint and white.   I created this colour chart with  yellow ochre, cadmium red, mars black and titanium white.

It was a little test to see how much of a range I could achieve with as few tubes as possible.   This is in preparation for when I can go plein air painting.  I want to be able to carry as little as possible so that I don’t have a heavy load.  I’ll be doing a few more experiments so it’ll be good to compare and contrast to get the right tubes.

This experiment was loosely based on the Zorn palette.  You’ll find more information on this here.
